Being a priest means that you have permission to perform sacred rituals and traditions other classes cannot. The priests perform many rituals throughout the day, and on particular occasions (e.g. Rep-wenpet is like New Year's Day in Ancient Egypt) the priests and the high priest would perform an extra one depending on the occasion. On normal days priests would sing in the morning the hymn 'Awaken in Peace, Great God', to awaken their god, and then in the sanctuary the priests would say prayers of worship to their god content. Throughout the day more rituals would be performed; most of them included music and hymns. The priest’s job was to keep the gods content, this being the reason why they would perform so many rituals. Another daily ritual was bathing. No matter the weather, it was compulsory the priest's washed in cold water multiple times every day in order to keep clean.
One ritual the priests would have taken part in before they got their title as priest would be to shave their head. As a priest, they would continue doing this. Like the bathing ritual, this was in order to keep clean, which was essentia around the gods.
